"I just wanted to say a massive 'thank you' for all your hard work and beautfiul photos, they're exactly what we needed and to be honest are so much better than I could have imagined. You worked fantastically well with our partners and I can tell that you engaged with the service users well and really put them at ease." Anita Ahmed, Fundraising officer - AVERT
"As programme manager for a strategic grant on maternal health in Africa, I had the chance to work with Corrie to document our work in the field. Corrie has huge experience in producing photography for commercial purposes and this translated into supporting charity work extremely well. She has a very creative and colourful style that suited our rights based approach. I wholeheartedly recommend her for any similar work." Florianne Gaillardin, Project manager, Africa - Interact Worldwide/Plan UK
"We worked with Corrie on a photography project, documenting gender-based violence and women who use drugs in Kenya. Corrie was great to work with, she was very responsive and flexible in her approach and dealt brilliantly with the changing needs of the shoot as the project unfolded. Corrie met all our deadlines and delivered a wide selection of high quality images that accurately reflected the brief she had been given." Sarah Oughton, Digital Communications - The Alliance
Photography can be a great passport into peoples lives. Being principle photographer for over 15 travel guide titles including Myanmar, Indonesia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, Spain, I’ve travelled extensively with a camera for the past 20 years. With a background in fine art I've always been interested in visual storytelling. These days however, what is even more important to me is that connection with communities and the projects I photograph. I've been working alongside NGOs to communicate projects through vibrant, honest, dignified photography, I am respectful and sensitive to beneficiaries and make genuine friendships wherever I work. Listening to communities, documenting case studies and working closely with local partners is paramount to successful storytelling and engaging content and I like to work with clients who know the importance of leaving behind a good experience for all involved. Because my photography has a commercial yet personal element it can be useful for marketing a strong visual identity and brand for any client. I also run participatory photography projects for NGOs who choose to tell the personal stories of their beneficiaries through first hand photography.
In addition to my photography career, I am also the director and founder of an arts centre at Anidan children's home, Lamu, Kenya. As well as teaching art and photography at the centre, I also manage an artist in residence program for practicing Kenyan artists 3 times a year. Currently based between the UK and Kenya. www.facebook.com/anidanarts
